A Milford man was picked up on a warrant stemming from an alleged July incident where he’s accused of strangling a woman.

Richard Castle Jr., 57, of 208 S. James St., Milford, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 4:56 p.m. Saturday and faces charges for strangulation, a Level 6 felony; domestic battery causing moderate bodily injury, a Level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Aug. 4. in Kosciusko Superior Court III, on July 13 police responded to a home in reference to a domestic violence report.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with a woman who said Castle beat her. The woman was bleeding from the back of her head so much that her hair was “saturated” with blood, according to the affidavit.

The woman told police that Castle choked her to the point that she blacked out and said she at one point had tried to get a kitchen spatula to try to get Castle off of her.

When police spoke to Castle, according to court papers, Castle admitted there was a physical altercation but said the woman was the aggressor and that he was struck in the arm with a baseball bat. Police observed no markings on Castle, according to the report.

According to court records, Castle was convicted of battery in Wabash County in April 2010.

His bond was set at $5,750.
