Triton Opens Its Football Season With A 3-Point Win At S. Central

UNION MILLS – Triton kicked an insurance-policy 30-yard field goal by Cole Shively with 83 seconds to g, putting the Trojans up 23-14 in its non-conference football game Friday at South Central.

Moments later the Trojans made a claim on that policy when South Central scored on a long touchdown run. But the policy protected the lead, and the Trojans won their season opener 23-20 over the Satellites.

Trace Schuh and Anthony Schuh scored first-half touchdowns, staking Triton to a 13-0 lead. South Central got all of that back with an extra point to spare, and led 14-13 until late in the fourth quarter.



Triton HNAC FB Game At LaVille Cancelled

BOURBON – The Hoosier North Athletic Conference football game between visiting Triton against LaVille, scheduled for Aug. 28, has been cancelled due to the number of COVID-19 cases at LaVille.

Triton Athletic Director Mason McIntyre said in an e-mail he would look for a substitute game, and would release details if one became available.

LaVille had already cancelled its season opener Friday, and its Sept. 4 game. The Lancers are now not scheduled to play until Sept. 11 at Winamac.

As of press time, Triton won’t play again until a HNAC contest in Fulton against Caston Sept. 4. The Trojans will not play at home until Sept. 18, when Culver Community comes to town.



Whitko Snaps Skid With OT Win Over Prairie Heights

SOUTH WHITLEY – Whitko opened its 2020 season in style, snapping a 13-game losing streak with a 22-20 overtime win over visiting Prairie Heights in a non-conference football game Friday.

Whitko tied the game with a touchdown in its half of the overtime, and won it with a two-point conversion. Statistics were not avaiolable as of press time.

It was the first Wildcat win since Sept. 28, 2018 at Manchester, and first home win since Sept. 9, 2016 over Rochester. It was Whitko’s second win since the beginning of the 2017 season.

Whitko opens Three Rivers Conference play Friday, hosting Peru. The Tigers opened their season with a 25-20 win over Logansport.



Squires Roll To Opening Win

NORTH MANCHESTER – Never trailing, the Manchester Squires scored early and often in rolling to a 47-12 season-opening win over visiting North Miami in a Three Rivers Conference football game Friday night.

Statistics were not available as of press time.

The Squires play their lone non-conference game this Friday, hosting Bluffton. The Tigers were a 25-13 win over Northfield to open their season.
