James ‘Jim’ Andrew Guffey

He was born on Dec. 11, 1942, in Windfall, to Meldia Jane Snow Guffey and Virgil Garfield Guffey. On Oct. 13, 1986, he was married to Ruth Ann Clark Guffey, who survives.
Jim was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 44 years. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He re-enlisted and served a total of 34 years for his country in the Army, Air Force and Marines. He retired from active duty in 1994. He had served as a recruiter for the National Guard in Warsaw and helped many people enlist over the years. Jim always kept busy, he worked at O.M.C. Manufacturer in Syracuse as a forklift operator for many years, as well as a painter for Oakridge Apartments in Warsaw. Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 34 years, Ruth Ann Guffey, Pierceton; four sons: David Neal, Arizona; Gary Neal, Arizona; Aaron (Sylvia) Stutzman, Etna Green; Michael Kistner, Pierceton; three daughters: Angela (Emmett) Miller, Kokomo; L. Michelle Knighton, Oregon; and Tiffany (Jeremy) Wallen, Claypool. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; and his sister, Gloria (Raymond) Tritt, Kokomo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Jerry Lee.
Jim’s life will be celebrated with a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, and officiated by Pastor Rich Moran. A graveside service will take place at 2 p.m. at Brookside Cemetery in Windfall on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
