MENTONE – Robert A. Osburn, 85, formerly of rural Akron, and most recently of Beaver Dam Lake, passed at 11:01 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020, at his daughter’s residence of rural Bourbon.

Bob was born on July 31, 1935, in Tippecanoe, to the late Stanton and Mae Moody Osburn. He was married on Nov. 15, 1953, in Mentone, to Lois L. Blackburn, who preceded him in death on Jan. 15, 2007.

He had worked for Niff-Corr, where he retired, and then he went back to work for Warsaw Coil as well as being a farmer. He was a graduate of Tippecanoe High School.

Bob was a member of the Bourbon First United Church of Christ. He cut countless loads of wood and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and was very active in the community, helping many people. He had recently moved to Beaver Dam Lake from the farm. He was known to enjoy coffee at many area coffee shops.

He is survived by two daughters: Sharon and husband Eddie Sexton, Bourbon; and Carol Reed, Chandler, Ariz.; two grandchildren: Eddie Sexton Jr. and Joshua Sexton; three great-grandchildren; and companion, Gerri Howard, Beaver Dam Lake.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois Osburn; one sister; and five brothers.

Visitation hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, 2020, at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone.  

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10 at King Memorial Home, Mentone, with Pastor Susan M. Clark officiating.   

The interment will follow the service in the Harrison Center (Wooden) Cemetery, Etna Green.
