A Warsaw woman is facing charges after allegedly stabbing a man during an altercation.

Ricci McKayla Rice, 23, of 701 S. CR 325E, Warsaw, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 6:14 a.m. July 29 and faces charges for domestic battery by means of a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony; domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years old, a Level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed July 30 in Kosciusko Superior Court I, police responded to the home in reference to a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a man who had a stab wound to his left shoulder.

The man told police it was caused by a shelf. After police spoke with other people present at the home, according to court papers, police believed Rice had stabbed the man.

Rice said the man stabbed himself and that she cleaned the knife off and put ito back in a drawer. However, the man later told police that Rice had been the one who stabbed him and he showed police the knife Rice used and had put back in the drawer.

Rice’s bond was set at $11,000. She appeared in court for an initial hearing Monday.
