WCHS Principal Troy Akers Named District 2 Principal Of The Year
By Staff Report-
The association annually recognizes outstanding school leaders in each of the 12 Indiana districts who have succeeded in providing high-quality learning opportunities for students. These principals are acknowledged by their peers for the exemplary contributions they have made to the profession. The program honors school principals who have demonstrated excellence, according to a news release from Warsaw Community School.
Akers is completing his 12th year at WCHS and his first year of a three-year term as a member of the IASP State Board.
He is quick to give credit to his team by stating, “I have a fantastic team of administrators whom I love and respect that really shares in this award. Of course, our great teachers, students, counselors, cooks, nurses, bus drivers and custodians make this school community what it is. I'm just happy to be a part of it all. I am very truly humbled. This award is simply an extension of the great work our administrative team does to promote our students, teachers, support personnel and the entire Warsaw Community.”
Dani Barkey, assistant superintendent for secondary schools, congratulated Akers, stating, “I have had the privilege and honor of working with Mr. Akers for the past seven years, and throughout that time, I have found him to be most deserving of this distinction.”
WCS Superintendent Dr. David Hoffert said, “We are so excited to learn about Mr. Akers' recognition as the IASP District 2 Principal of the Year. His service, dedication and love for the WCHS students, faculty, staff, parents and community are unmatched. He is a role model and professional in every sense of the words. It is an honor to work alongside him and I am thrilled he is being recognized by his peers.”
