Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the human remains that were located in early April north of Pierceton.

On April 2, human remains were located 300 yards off of Ind. 13, just south of Old 30, north of Pierceton.

Over the past few weeks, investigators have submitted evidence for analysis, but fingerprints and DNA samples failed to produce an identification.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sgt. Chris Francis said the DNA analysis confirms the remains are that of a man, who investigators believe had black hair and was approximately 5 foot, 5 inches tall.

Photos of the man’s clothing and a bracelet found at the scene are being released by police in hopes that someone in the community will be able to recognize the clothing and identify the man.

A Vans brand, size small, blue long-sleeve shirt was found, along with a sleeveless Maple Grove black jersey.

Investigators have located the original owner of the Maple Grove jersey, Francis said, and that person told police he had donated the jersey to Goodwill in 2016.

Additional DNA genetic testing is currently in process, however, results have been delayed due to COVID-19 closures, Francis said.

Anyone with information on a possible identity is asked to contact the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office at 574-267-5667.
