Warsaw Community School Board approved Aimee Lunsford as the new principal of Lincoln Elementary School during its meeting Monday.

She replaces Cathy Snyder, who is retiring at the end of this school year.

Lunsford is from Royal Center, where she graduated from Pioneer High School. She graduated from Manchester University and Ball State University with degrees in elementary education and educational leadership and supervision, according to a news release from WCS.

Lunsford spent 14 years in the classroom, ranging in grade from kindergarten to middle school special education.

For the past seven years, Lunsford has been the principal of Flint Springs Elementary in Huntington. She and her husband, Justin, have two children: Jackson, who will be a senior in high school; and Sophie, who will be in eighth grade.

“Given where they are in their careers, Sophie is a little bit more excited about this move,” Lunsford said during Monday’s school board meeting, noting Sophie is already scoping out which middle school she’d like to attend. “We’re all getting very excited about joining the Warsaw community.”

“In her time there, Aimee has led a variety of initiatives that have led to a successful record as principal at Flint Springs,” said Chief Academic Officer Dr. David Robertson.

Lunsford also spent four years as an instructional coach in the area of literacy prior to her being principal at Flint Springs Elementary.

She also was a teacher at Rochester Schools.

“We welcome Aimee here tonight as the new principal at Lincoln Elementary,” Robertson said.

Lunsford said her husband is an educator as well, working for Manchester University, but he was also in the classroom for over 20 years.

Robertson said Lunsford distinguished herself from a “very deep candidate pool.”

“We really have to give a lot of credit to the family over at Lincoln, and we started this process a month and a half ago with focus groups of both parents and staff a like,” Robertson said. He said Lunsford came across with a very distinguished record, and she’s president-elect of the Indiana Teachers Association.

Robertson said it was not an easy process and welcomed her to the team.

“I’m excited it’s now official,” Lunsford said.

Board President Heather Reichenbach welcomed Lunsford “to the Tiger family.”
