Charles E. Buell, age 97, and a lifetime resident of Warsaw, passed away unexpectedly at Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw on Tuesday, April 21, 2020.

Charles was born in Warsaw on May 7, 1922, the son of George and Edna M. Nine Buell. He was a 1941 graduate of Warsaw High School.

After graduating, he served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines where he was attached to a field artillery unit. He was honorably discharged, having earned the rank of corporal, in 1946.

In February of the same year, Charles was united in marriage to Marvel Galloway. The two were married for more than 65 years before Marvel passed in March of 2011. To their union, two sons were born: Mike and Jeff; both survive.

Charles was employed by Peabody ABC for more than 40 years, retiring in 1987. He was a friendly but quiet person who loved time spent outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and keeping busy in the yard. He also liked to tinker with small projects and was a longtime member of American Legion Post 49.

In addition to his wife, Marvel, those who preceded Charles in passing include brothers, Dail Buell, George Buell and Francis Buell; and his sister, Eloise Phillips.
