Warsaw senior Grayson Kilburn was named the female recipient of the The Don Dicken Golf Award for the 2019 season on Tuesday. The award recipients are chosen by Warsaw golf coaches and presented to the senior golfers who excel in leadership, academics, citizenship, and team effort.

“Grayson advanced to regionals individually her junior year and earned Academic All-State Honors in golf her senior year. Year in-and-out she has led the team by her example and leadership qualities on and off the golf course,” said a statement released by the Warsaw Community School Cprporation athletic department.

“Along with golf, Grayson is a key contributor on the Diving and Track and Field team, advancing individually at the state level in all three sports. Grayson shows a fierce competitive drive that pushes her to be the best at everything she does.

“Grayson also excels in the classroom earning a GPA of 4.42, placing her in the top 15 of her graduating class. Grayson plans to attend the University of Iowa to study Marketing and Psychology.

“This golf award is named after a local golfing legend, Don Dicken, professional at Rozella Ford Golf Club for thirty-five years.  During that time, Don was a great promoter and supporter of the WCHS golf teams, junior golf, and Warsaw community golf.  Don was also named Golf Professional of the year, Teaching Professional of the year, and Public Merchandiser of the year by the Indiana PGA. Don retired from Rozella Ford Golf Club in 1995. Every golfer in our community knows Mr. Dicken. Even today, you will still see him at the golf course giving helpful tips or advice to the younger generation. The Warsaw golf programs would not have the success they have today without the legacy of Don Dicken and his help in promoting the game.”

Get To Know The Team: Warsaw Captains Q&A
Earlier this week, I had the privilege of going to a Warsaw football practice and speaking with four of the team’s five captains. With so much having been written in recent weeks about their performance on the field, and rightfully so, I wanted to peel back the curtain a bit and ask them some questions about themselves. Each of the four players were asked the same eight questions. Below are each of their answers.
