Joe W. Scutchfield, age 71, of Claypool, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at 3:30 a.m. in his residence.

Joe was born Aug. 13, 1948, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Ed and Martha Marsillet Scutchfield. He was united in marriage to Vicky Whitaker on Oct. 1, 1969, in Warsaw.  

Joe was a sergeant in the United States Army, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1970. He spent most of his life as a resident in Kosciusko County. He worked as a machinist for Zimmer Biomet Inc. for 42 years, retiring in 2014. He was a member of Living Hope Ministries.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Vicky Scutchfield, of Claypool; children, Jeremy (Brittany) Scutchfield and Shane Scutchfield, both of Silver Lake; grandchildren, Alexis Elliott and Maya Scutchfield, both of Silver Lake.

He was preceded in death by both parents; and a brother, Randy Miller, of Claypool.

A private funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 9 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Hedgel Perry officiating. A public graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 9 at 12:30 p.m. in Graceland Cemetery, Claypool.
