Lightning Causes Issues With Area High School?Football Games

By Mark Howe-

Of the five high school football games scheduled  for Friday night involving teams from the Times-Union coverage area, three were postponed having never kicked off, another was delayed before finishing and the fifth ended early, all due to lightning from thunderstorms crossing northern Indiana.

Plymouth’s Northen Lakes Conference game at Wawasee was the first in the area to be postponed, and will start at 7:30 p.m. today. Homecoming coronation will also take place at halftime of today’s game.

Warsaw’s NLC game at Goshen was delayed twice before it was postponed until 10 a.m. today.

Likewise with Whitko’s Three Rivers Conference game at Tippecanoe Valley, which will kick off at 8 p.m. today.

Manchester fell 41-6 in a TRC game at Southwood in a game delayed at least 90 minutes.

Two-time defending state 1A champion Pioneer was credited with a 60-0 Hoosier North Athletic Conference victory over Triton in a game that was called at halftime.

Recaps of games played Saturday will appear in Monday’s paper.
