KNOX – Triton claimed the Hoosier North Athletic Conference boys tennis tournament title Thursday at Knox High School.

The title means the Trojans are co-champions with North Judson, who won the regular-season title.

Triton’s Gavin Large dropped his first set against North Judson’s Gavin Alonso before coming back for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles. 

At No. 1 doubles, Tyler Heckaman and Jared Bules handled Kye Burkett and Andrew Attinger of North Judson, 6-3, 6-3.

Gavin Greer took third at No. 3 singles with a 10-3 win over LaVille’s David Clayton.

John Gardner was second at No. 1 singles, falling 6-2, 6-1 to North Judson’s Haydon Kaminski. Cole McKinney and Chandler Westafer were the runners up at No. 2 doubles, falling  6-4, 6-2 to North Judson’s Payton Cox and Kaydon Grinder.

Large, Heckaman and Bules were named First Team All-HNAC.

Triton now waits until Monday to see whom it will play in the Bremen Sectional that begins Wednesday. The Trojans will be joined by John Glenn, LaVille, Plymouth and the host Lions in the tournament.
