Four Seasons Ladies Bridge

The Four Seasons Ladies Bridge met Wednesday at Grace Village. Winners were Dian Cartwright, Joan Earhart, Betty Walston and Elaine Tripp. Hostess was Beth Huffer.



Wednesday Night Bridge

Wednesday Night Bridge played Wednesday. They had five tables with the following winners:  John Wagley, Bob Mayer, Grant Magner, Jim Levandis, Mike Herring and Mary Thompson.  John and Janet Wagley are host and hostess for September.   

The next meeting is Wednesday. The group would like to share its bridge night with interested bridge players. If interested, call Janet Wagley 574-268-1330.



Bridge At SPEC In North Webster

Bridge at SPEC played Tuesday. Mike Wyrick came in first and Mary Prescott came in second. The group also played Thursday. Mike Wyrick came in first and Wanda Wyrick came in second.



Grace Thursday Bridge

Grace Thursday Bridge met Thursday. Joyce Latte was hostess. Winners were Betty Walston, Ann Thallemer and Marylin Voelz.



Winona Lake Literary Club

WINONA LAKE – The Winona Lake Literary Club began with its first meeting of the  new year Wednesday at the Robin Hood  Community Center, Winona Lake.  There were two guests.  

President Phillis Borkholder opened the meeting with the reading of "The Collect.”  She gave a brief history of this offical Women's Club's essential beliefs, written by Mary  Stewart in 1904, and used by varied women's clubs in the U.S., Britain and many other countries of the world.

Guest speaker was Sally Hogan, curator, Kosciusko County Jail Museum. Her program was titled "Kosciusko County Women Through the Years. "  The women highlighted were those who had contributed to the betterment of life in the county or had become recognized for their skills or talents well beyond the county's borders.

Refreshments followed.



Frances Slocum Chapter DAR To Meet

ROANN – Wabash County Frances Slocum chapter, Indiana Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet at 6 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Roann (Paw Paw Township) Public Library, 240 South Chippewa Street, Roann.

The group will travel to the Stockdale Cemetery to honor Samuel Burdge, the only American Revolutionary War veteran buried in Wabash County; back to the library for a program on Samuel Burdge by Dr. Barbara Burdge, professor of social work, Manchester University. Prospective members and guests are welcome to attend.

DAR membership is open to any woman 18 years of age who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution. Those having questions about their family history lineage information may contact www.dar.org or Linda Thompson at 260-563-4661 or Barbara Amiss at 260-982-4376.
