Vikings Roar Back; Keep Bell With 34-14 Win Over Zebras

ROCHESTER – After trailing 14-0 at halftime, Tippecanoe Valley scored five unanswered touchdowns in the second half to take a 34-14 win at Rochester in Three Rivers Conference football Friday night.

The win allowed the Vikings to keep the Monon Bell and a share of first place in the conference race.

Jacob Eherenman got the Vikings on the board with an early third-quarter touchdown, then Dakota Gaff scores the tying and go-ahead touchdowns, the latter capping a 99-yard drive in the fourth quarter after the Vikings recovered a Zebra fumble at its own 1-yard line late in the third stanza.

Tanner Trippiedi and Jaydin Conley scored in the fourth quarter to salt the game away for the Vikings. Valley outscored Rochester 20-0 n the final period.

Conley finished with 114 yards on 16 carries (an average of 7.1 per carry) and Gaff had 88 yards on 8 carries.

Valley improved to 4-1 overall and 4-0 in the conference. The Vikings share first place with Southwood, a 41-0 winner at Wabash Friday night. Those two teams are slated to meet on the final night of the regular season Oct. 18.

Next up for the Vikings is a home game with Whitko (0-5, 0-4 TRC) Friday night.

Squires Drop Homecoming Thriller

NORTH MANCHESTER – After trailing by 14 points for most of Friday’s homecoming game, Manchester came back to take a lead. Visiting Northfield mounted a comeback of its own before the host Squires forced overtime with a late touchdown.

A missed extra point proved to be the difference in Northfield’s 49-48 Three Rivers Conference win Friday night.

Squire quarterback Devin Marcum passed for 233 yards and five touchdowns, with Thank Creager and Kreeden Krull grabbing two TD catches each.

Manchester (1-4, 1-3 TRC) travels to TRC co-leader Southwood (5-0, 4-0 TRC) for a conference game Friday.



No. 10 NorthWood Cruises Past Wawasee

NAPPANEE – NorthWood, ranked No. 10 in Class 4A in the coaches poll, scored a pair of touchdowns in the quarters on either side of halftime in its 40-10 Northern Lakes Conference win over visiting Wawasee Friday.

Warrior quarterback Parker Young completed 12 passes in 28 attempts for 158 yards and a third-quarter touchdown pass to Ethan Garza. Wawasee opened its scoring with a 40-yard field goal by Evan Dippon.

Garza caught five passes for 122 yards on the night.

Wawasee (1-4. 0-3 NLC) hosts Plymouth (4-1, 3-0 NLC) Friday night.



Cavaliers Roll Past Triton

CULVER – Host Culver Community scored a pair of touchdowns in each of the first three quarters en route to a 44-14 win over Triton in Hoosier North Athletic Conference football Friday.

Connor Pitney completed 13 of 25 passes for 213 yards and two touchdowns, but was picked off three times. Hunter McIntyre had 67 yards rushing on nine carries, and 76 yards on three receptions. Delano Shumpert had five catches for 73 yards and a touchdown.

Triton (2-3, 1-3 HNAC) travels To Royal Center to take on Class 2A No. 6 Pioneer (4-1, 4-0 HNAC) on Friday.
