U.S. 30 Freeway Project Meeting Set Wed.
September 17, 2019 at 1:39 a.m.
By Staff Report-
Design and engineering will not begin until project funding is identified and an environmental study has been completed. Community conversations and planning discussion have begun in all seven counties of the U.S. 30 Coalition. An initial public meeting was held in May 2018 to begin local discussion, according to a news release from the city.
Warsaw and Kosciusko County officials, in partnership with local stakeholders, representatives from the U.S. 30 Coalition, and the Michiana Area Council on Government (MACOG), will host a second public meeting from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Lincoln Elementary School gymnasium, 203 N. Lincoln St., Warsaw. The focus of the meeting will be to review options for the proposed freeway. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to ask questions and comment on the project. Elected officials will be present.
A freeway project, similar to the U.S. 31 project from South Bend to Indianapolis, is designed to limit access in an effort to improve safety and traffic flow. As this project will have a significant local impact, residents and business owners are strongly encouraged to attend and participate in this conversation, according to the release. Community input will play a vital role toward the final project design.
For questions about this project or public meeting, contact the Warsaw Mayor’s Office at 574-372-9595 or [email protected], or contact Kosciusko County Commissioner Cary Groninger at [email protected].
