Triton Tennis Sails Past Vikings In Non-Conference Play

BOURBON – Triton’s boys tennis team won 4-1 over visiting Tippecanoe Valley in a non-conference match Tuesday.

At No. 1 singles, the Trojans’ John Gardner downed Payton Mills 6-2, 6-3. Connor Large was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Valley’s Dylan Neese.

Triton swept both doubles matches, with Jared Bules and Tyler Heckaman emerging as 6-1, 6-0 victors over Ethan Hartman and Russell Paxton at the No. 1 spot. Cole McKinney and Chandler Westafer beat 6-1, 6-2 over Mason Purvis and Annakin Petit.

Valley’s win came at No. 3 singles, where Owen Kirchenstein needed a second-set tiebreaker to beat Gavin Greer 6-3, 7-6.

Triton will play in the Jimtown Invitational Saturday. Valley will host Cass in non-conference play Thursday.
