Robert James DeNault, 79, of Sanford, N.C., passed away on Monday, Sept. 2, 2019, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

He was born on Nov. 9, 1939, in Danbury, Conn., to the late Arthur Harmon DeNault and Margaret Josephine Mooney DeNault.

Robert will be remembered as a loving and caring man. He loved his family very much. Robert often gave to others and was always there to help others when they needed it.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara DeNault; his son, James Robert DeNault, of Monticello, N.Y.; his stepchildren, Debra (Tim) Hawley, of Warsaw; Alan (Debbie) Russell, of Silverthorne, Colo.; Dorothy Russell, of Sanford, N.C.; Stephen (Opal) Russell, of Alexandria, Va.; and Philip (Sharon) Russell, of Liberty, N.Y. He is also survived by his sister, Jeanne Behr, of Montgomery, N.Y.; 10 stepgrandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; two nieces; and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Phyllis Gallagher and Doris Betterton; and brother, Frederick DeNault.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
