Co-owners Gary and Sara Nephew and Scott and Kami Tuttle have also worked very hard to bring in their impressive staff. Their head chef, Jack Godwin worked with Wolfgang Puck and at Caesar’s in Las Vegas. Their head brewer came from Stranahans in Denver, Colorado and Evil Czech.
With the cool, dark grays against bright cerulean blues, and shiny metallic lighting fixtures inspired by pieces from Europe - this place felt like a million bucks. The food looked as impressive and high end as the decor that surrounded me. I saw large plates with sauces swirling to their edges.
This was the perfect place to be brave and try something strange and delicious. I once thought I could never have the courage to eat, soft-shelled crab and flying fish roe (eggs), but I ordered the most impressive and intimidating sushi dish on the menu named Spider and waited for the masterpiece to arrive at my table.
It had beautifully architectured placed asparagus and neatly wrapped sushi medallions.
Half of the crab, which was coated in tempura batter, was placed delicately in front, as if to say,
“Yes, I am the star of this dish.”
The flavor palette was buttery and comfortingly fresh with just the right amount of flavor and salt.
The sticky rice was prepared perfectly: soft and springy.
If you are not into trying the most daring foods, that’s ok! They have a great selection to choose from! The most popular being the Lobster Roll which is set in a house made bao bun.
Another profound aspect of Ruhe152, is their philanthropy work. They host Ruhe Road Runners on Wednesdays, and local beer crafting events to raise funds for suicide awareness.
I asked Gary what he liked most about co-owning a restaurant. His reply was socializing with family and friends, in addition to meeting so many new people- literally from all over the US.
The owners are so caring and prefer to be in the business of giving rather than receiving.
So come on out to Nappannee for live music, and an exciting foodie experience. Don’t forget their gorgeous photo-op wall of the two-story tall angel wings!
Only 20 min from Warsaw, it’s a straight shot off North CR 800W, turn on 30. With a luxury establishment this high quality, you won’t have to travel much farther than Warsaw’s own backyard. The adventure awaits!
