I have read that each day in the United States, about 10,000 of us seniors in this country celebrate our 65th birthday, and our gift from good old Uncle Sam is Medicare. After years of paying payroll taxes at work to help fund this government program, we older Americans finally get our turn to sign up and have health insurance for the rest of our lives. Yet, after decades of paying payroll taxes to fund this, many of us are surprised to discover that basic Medicare does not cover a variety of health-care expenses that can hit us, as retirees, pretty hard. However, instead of Medicare fixing this problem with our money that we put into the system; they, on the other hand, are handing out our money, plus millions, if not trillions more, over to for-profit insurance companies to manipulate and subjugate us for profit.

Medicare Advantage Plans are a bizarre, confusing, and absurd maze, which rather much only pays for in-network services, and from what I understand, they can change their prices and what is in-network at will. Most importantly, with a Medicare Advantage Plan, you are taking yourself completely out of Medicare. You are now in the hands of these pirates. In contrast, with Medicare you can see any doctor in the United States, any hospital, and so forth. So, if you are a retiree who travels occasionally and get hospitalized in another state, or need to see a doctor in another state, and so forth … you are out of luck. Now with Medicare supplement plans you stay with Medicare, in other words, you are still in Medicare, but you are going to spend money on premiums and deductibles. Again, instead of Medicare fixing what few things that might be wrong with Medicare, they are handing us seniors and our money over to the for-profit pirates.

Basically, if I would get the Medicare Supplement plan that fits me; therefore, I would be spending another, at the least, $114 a month (besides the $135 a month everyone pays for Medicare part B), plus another $40 a month for dental, another $50 dollars a month for prescription drugs. Not to mention all of the deductibles, and such. Above all, I have read that the average retiree’s income from social security is around $20,000 a year. The average senior on social security cannot afford this. Plus, I think the cutoff for help is about $14,000 a year. In essence, instead of the government fixing what few things might be lacking with Medicare, they are handing our Medicare money, plus millions, if not trillions more, over to the for-profit pirates, so they can plunder the seniors in this country. There is nothing sacred when it comes to these pirates. Profit is their only concern. Healthcare in America (Medicare) is a prime example of what happens in a country when pirates are allowed to take control.
