Kiwanis Club Installs New Officers

Joni Truex was reinstalled as president of the Kiwanis Club of Warsaw during the club’s meeting on Sept. 26 at the Connection Campus. Also installed were president-elect Cindy Cates, vice president Jim Molebash, treasurer Darrin Miller, and secretary Leslie Andrews. Due to an officer’s resignation, Joni Truex’s term as president was extended by six months, and Cindy Cates’ term as president will begin six months earlier on April 1, 2020.
In addition, Don Bergen, Brian Smith, and John Fruth are newly elected to the club’s board of directors. Continuing directors are John Parker, Brock Tidball, Michelle Boxell, and Steve Gerber. Retiring directors are Peggy Alt, Lee Hartle, and Jim MacDonald.
The immediate past president Scott Fox will continue to serve on the club board until March 31st. Outgoing Lieutenant Governor Michael Suhany was recognized for his leadership.
The Kiwanis Club of Warsaw supports community projects such as awarding an annual scholarship, assisting with Safety Day, reading to Head Start children, buying gifts for Angel Tree children, ringing bells for the Salvation Army, and delivering Mobile Meals. The club raises money for the projects by fruit basket sales, rose sales, and the Pancake and Egg Breakfast.
“Kids need Kiwanis, in our community and in communities around the world,” said Joni Truex. “Our club believes in children and wants to provide all kids with an opportunity to thrive, prosper, and grow.”
The Kiwanis Club of Warsaw welcomes new members who want to serve their community. The Kiwanis Club of Warsaw meets every Thursday from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Connection Campus, 1692 West Lake St., Warsaw.
