Ohio Man Faces Stalking, Fraud, Other Charges After Threats To Girlfriend

Eric M. Seekings, 37, of Paulding, Ohio, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail Tuesday and faces charges of fraud on a financial institution, a Level 5 felony; stalking, a Level 5 felony; fraud, a Level 6 felony; intimidation, a Level 6 felony; and criminal mischief, a Class A misdemeanor.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed Aug. 29 in Kosciusko Superior Court III, Silver Lake police responded to a report of criminal mischief on July 17 and spoke with a woman who said she used to date Seekings. She told police they got into an argument July 7 and Seekings told her he was going to slit her throat then chest-bumped her and knocked her phone out of her hands, preventing her from calling police, court papers state.
“Eric Seekings kept threatening bodily harm to her and told her to watch her back,” police reported.
The woman further advised police that Seekings calls and texts every day and she would ignore the calls. He also contacts her place of employment, saying he is her ex-husband, and threatened to steal her truck in front of her boss.
The woman obtained a protective order after that, according to court documents.
The woman told police that on July 17, “she came home and in the driveway could smell a very strong odor of propane. She entered the residence and found the gas stove had been left on, her two flat screen televisions were busted, doors torn off the washer and dryer, water heater drain was open, deep freezer was open, router box was gone, mirrors broken, shower door torn off and diplomas ripped up.”
The woman told police Seekings had also been harassing her friends and family, calling them to ask where she was to try to stalk her.
Police estimated damage to the property at $2,200, according to court documents.
On July 18, police informed Seekings he would be getting served a protective order against him soon, and Seekings also denied trashing the house to police.
On that same day, another person called police and said Seekings had contacted them asking if the woman was working and that she “was a dead woman walking and that he was going to cut her from ear to ear.”
On July 19, the woman told police $339.99 had been charged to her bank credit card from a Western Union web transfer.
On July 29, the woman spoke with a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy and said that since July 19 she has received 28 phone calls from Seekings.
“One message was that he can’t wait to finish what he started. Another states he can’t wait to gut her like a deer,” the probable cause affidavit reads.
On Aug. 8, police obtained information from Western Union that the payee on the web transfer was Seekings.
Seekings’ bond was set at $53,000. He has asked for a bond reduction and to be released on his own recognizance. A judge will hear that at 11:15 a.m. Monday.
