“The cold months are hard on all of us but particularly so for those who find themselves unable to pay their bills. It is my sincere hope that by partnering with CCS we can help those who are in crisis stay warm this season,” Goslee said.
Over the past few years, the Winter Warmth Program has assisted hundreds of community members to stay warm in the winter. As noted on the CCS website, those in the most significant immediate crisis will receive financial assistance first. In most situations, CCS requires a disconnect notice or warning before they can provide aid. Community members seeking help should request funds 24 hours or more before the disconnect date listed on the disconnect notice, according to a news release from KREMC.
CCS guidelines for financial assistance are up to 200% of Poverty Guidelines or Hardship Determination, which covers a vast array of crises, from loss of a job to an automobile accident that renders people unable to make their usual payments.
