SYRACUSE – Carolyn S. “Sue” Golden, 80, of Syracuse, passed away at 4:40 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, 2019, at her residence.

She was born on Jan. 16, 1939, in Shirley, Ind., to Kenneth H. and Mabel L. Keck Wales.

She graduated from Shirley High School and moved to the Syracuse area in 1968 from Fort Wayne. She was previously married to Jack H. Francis, who preceded her on Jan. 14, 1991; and on Sept. 26, 1992, in Syracuse, she married Charles L. “Lee” Golden, who survives.

She was a homemaker, formerly worked at Ivy Hut in Syracuse as a waitress and was the former owner/operator of the Garden Patch in Syracuse. She was a member of the Syracuse Church of God.

She is survived by her husband, Lee Golden, of Syracuse; daughter, Sherri (Jesse) Castillo; two sons, Gary (Lynn Plummer) Francis, of Syracuse, and Mark (Rhonda) Francis, of Elkhart; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Penni Sievers, of Columbia City, and Kelly Thompson, of Warsaw; stepson, Allen (Sherry) Golden, of Jefferson City, Miss.; and sister, Winnifred Roland, of Lawrenceburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband; stepdaughter, Sonja Ottinger; sister, Sharon Jones; and brother, Ralph Wales.

Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 12, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN 46567. A memorial service will follow at noon in the funeral home with Pastor Stan Owen officiating. Burial will take place in the Syracuse Cemetery.

Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, is in charge of arrangements.
