Wawasee Gets Balanced Scoring In Win Over Westview

SYRACUSE – Emily Haines and Jada Carter had nine points each, and Abby Steiner added eight points in a balanced Wawasee attack, leading the host Warriors to a 46-38 non-conference girls basketball win over visiting Westview Friday night.

Carter had seven steals and Haines five thefts for Wawasee.

In the junior varsity contest, Blair Harker had 16 points and a trio of steals for Wawasee in its 30-26 win. Addy Trimble had seven points, and Ryleigh Cole added three points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Wawasee (2-0) hosts the Lakeland Lakers for a non-conference game Tuesday at the Hardwood Teepee.



Triton Falls To S. Central

BOURBON – After trailing by 11 late in the third quarter, Triton closed the gap but could not come back in its 35-31 non-conference girls basketball loss to visiting South Central (Union Mills) Friday night in The Trench.

Kinsey Atkins had a team-high eight points and five rebounds for the Trojans. Taren Yates had seven points and Lexia Hostrawser six for Triton. South Central’s Amber Wolf led all scorers with 19 points.

South Central also won the junior varsity game 50-8 over the Trojans.

Triton (1-3) hosts Marshall County foe Bremen Tuesday night.



Cougars Roll Over SBCA

WINONA LAKE – Jessi Calizo had 15 points and her sister Tori had 14 points, and each pulled down five rebounds for Lakeland Christian Academy in its 54-13 rout of visiting South Bend Career Academy in a girls basketball game Friday night.

Finley Hobbs was in double digits with 13 points, and Natalie Norris added eight points.

The Cougars are right back at it tonight, playing at Oregon-Davis. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Eastern time.
