The Warsaw store is one of many stores nationwide taking place in similar toy drives. On Nov. 9, shoppers will be encouraged at the doors to give a toy or gift. To participate, simply stop by and drop off new toys to The Salvation Army at the front of Walmart, 2501 Walton Blvd., Warsaw.
“Around 150 families seek Christmas assistance every year,” said envoy Ken Locke from The Salvation Army. “The public’s generosity helps The Salvation Army provide 300 children with Christmas toys they would not receive otherwise.”
Toys may also be dropped off any time at the office of The Salvation Army, 501 E. Arthur St., Warsaw. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m.
Walmart and The Salvation Army have collaborated for more than 30 years to meet local community needs. Supporters like Walmart help The Salvation Army serve more than 23 million Americans each year through a range of social services, which help families overcome poverty.
All toys given to The Salvation Army at Warsaw will remain in Kosciusko County and will help The Salvation Army provide Christmas assistance local children and families in need. The Salvation Army “clears” names with other agencies in the county to prevent duplication and abuse of services through a program called Charity Tracker.
Financial donations will be accepted as well at each door to support the 2019 Angel Tree Outreach.
