Warsaw Community Schools announced Rodrigo Ramos Bautista, a senior at Warsaw Community High School, recently was awarded the inaugural Michael and Rebecca Kubacki Scholarship to Ivy Tech Community College.
Bautista was presented with the scholarship during the WCHS senior scholarship night May 21 by Katie Kubacki and Dr. Allyn Decker, vice chancellor of Ivy Tech Community College.
The scholarship, which is in partnership with Ivy Tech, offers financial support to students of Latin heritage who show academic and personal excellence and plan to pursue a two-year degree with the institution. As the scholarship awardee, Bautista will receive $5,000 for his first year of schooling at Ivy Tech and $5,000 for his second year. This will cover all academic expenses for the completion of his associates degree. Bautista moved to the area from Guatemala two years ago, and he has worked as a painter to pay for his own expenses while living in the area. Throughout his two years in Warsaw he has achieved academic excellence and hopes to study physical therapy while in college.
