Snep’s No-Hitter Helps Lead Whitko In To 2A Sectional Title Game

CONVERSE – Whitko’s Ellie Snep tossed a five-inning no-hitter to help the Wildcats reach the title game of the 2A Oak Hill Softball Sectional in convincing fashion, taking a 12-0 win over Rochester Wednesday night.

Snep needed just 53 pitches to get through the five frames, and walked none while striking out three. She faced 17 batters, two over the minimum.

Meanwhile, the Whitko offense posted six runs in the first two innings, then added another half-dozen in the bottom of the fourth to evoke the run-rule.

Guinevere Garr, Augusta Garr and Harley Bradley each had doubles for Whitko. Shi Bradley had three singles, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs. Emalee Duggins scored three times, and eight of the starting nine in the lineup scored at least once.

Whitko takes a 14-7 record into today’s sectional title game against host Oak Hill, who beat Wabash 10-2 in the other semifinal. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.

Tigers Girls Tennis Falls In Regional Title Match

CULVER – Warsaw’s No. 1 doubles team earned the only Tiger victory in its 4-1 loss to Plymouth in the IHSAA Culver Academies girls tennis regional championship Wednesday.

Reagan Merchant and Rachel Yeager earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Plymouth’s Audie Plothow and Mary Beatty.

At No. 2 doubles, Pilgrims Olive Stanton and Sydni Weir won 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 over Warsaw’s Madelyn Ray and Amy Herendeen.

All three singles matches were won by Plymouth in straight sets.

Warsaw concludes its season with a 10-5 record.



Triton SB Season Ends

BOURBON – South Central (Union Mills) scored early and often in its 21-0 win over Triton in the 1A Triton Softball Sectional at Keyser Field Wednesday night.

South Central will face West Central, who won 16-7 over Culver Community in the other  semifinal, in the sectional championship game at 6 p.m. today.
