Lady Tigers Dominate All-Conference Track Team
GOSHEN – Northern Lakes Conference girls track champion Warsaw had seven student-athletes named to the all-conference team, one more than Northridge and more than double that of runner-up Elkhart Memorial.
Tigers on the team were seniors Remi Beckham, Makayla Clampitt and Ashlyn Hepler, junior Grayson Kilburn and freshmen Wini Barrett, Ava Knight and Amanda Lusinde. Senior Caitlin Kehler was honorable mention.
Wawasee seniors Jada Parzygnot and Sara Pritchard were also named to the All-NLC team.
Warsaw and Wawasee placed two student-athletes each on the boys All-NLC track team. Tiger senior Alijah Wade and junior Nick Bazzoni were named, as well as Warrior seniors Luke Griner and Isaiah Tipping. Warsaw sophomore Tanner Stiver was honorable mention.
ALL-NLC Academic Team Announced Friday
GOSHEN – Ten student athletes from each school, including Warsaw and Wawasee, were named to the Northern Lakes Conference All-Academic Team Friday.
Members of the team from Warsaw were Jack Horoho, basketball and cross country; Zachary Morgan, swimming; Anthony Bass, cross country and wrestling; Alex Cook, swimming, Delaney Wihebrink swimming; Jarrett Orr, tennis; Isabel Ray, golf, swimming and tennis; Tyler Metzinger, basketball and track; Madelyn Ray, golf, swimming and tennis; and Olivia Herman, soccer and swimming.
Wawasee was represented on the team by Graham Perek, tennis; Isaiah Tipping, football, wrestling and track; Kaitlin Graber, tennis; Jared Krugman, swimming and golf; Bethany Flannery, volleyball and softball; Olivia Birch, soccer; Sara Pritchard, soccer and track; Dain Stuck, baseball; Leslie Tayagua, golf and unified track; and Jacob Krugman, tennis, swimming and baseball.
Warriors Beat ‘Busco
SYRACUSE – Parker Young homered, doubled, scored twice and drove in two runs to lead Wawasee to a 4-2 non-conference baseball win over visiting Churubusco Friday.
Grant Brooks and Kam Salazar also had doubles for the Warriors. Carter Woody had a pair of hits, drove in one and scored once.
The Warriors host Lakeland in their regular-season finale this morning.
Bremen Edges Wawasee
BREMEN – Bethany Flannery had two hits and Faith Swihart singled and scored for Wawasee in its 4-2 loss at Bremen in a non-conference softball game.
The game, moved from the Wawasee campus due to wet grounds, was the regular season finale for the Warriors. They will open play in the 3A Lakeland Sectional at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, taking on the host Lakers in LaGrange.
Panthers Defeat Trojans
BOURBON – Visiting NorthWood scored all 12 of its runs in the first two innings, then went on to beat Triton 12-1 in a non-conference softball game Friday. It was the final game of the regular season for Triton.
The Trojans host a 1A sectional next week, and open against South Central (Union Mills) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
