Tigers Take NLC After Wins Over Plymouth, Memorial

The Warsaw boys golf team swept the Northern Lakes Conference match play with a perfect 7-0 record, finishing the regular season with wins over Plymouth and Elkhart Memorial at Rozella Ford Golf Course Thursday. The Tigers shot a 156 to best Plymouth's 166 and Memorial's 174.

Warsaw was led by Cal Hoskins, who took low score medalist honors with an even-par 35. He was followed by Chase Byron's 37. Other varsity players contributing were Seth Hildebrand's 41, Zach LaLonde's 43, and Tucker Carlile's 44.

The junior varsity squad also finished off a perfect 7-0 conference season with a pair wins over Plymouth and Elkhart Memorial, shooting a 174. Plymouth came in with a 203 and Elkhart Memorial had 214. Warsaw was led by Lewis Turley who shot a 42, followed by Ben Brander's 43, Jack Yeager's 44, and Will Hall's 45.

The Tigers will try and complete the conference season as the top seed in the NLC Tournament this Saturday at South Shore Golf Club in Syracuse.

Warrior Golf Turns Back Raiders At South Shore

SYRACUSE – Wawasee completed the regular-season portion of its Northern Lakes Conference boys golf sectional Thursday with a 165-182 win over visiting Northridge at South Shore Golf Club.

Caden Welty led the Warriors with a 39, good for medalist honors. Tyler Bosstick was at 41, Zach Leedy at 42, Evan Dippon at 43 and Dillon Drake at 50 for Wawasee, who return to South Shore for the NLC tournament Saturday.



Squire Golf Wins TRC Three-Way Match With Whitko, Tippecanoe Valley

NORTH MANCHESTER – Brothers Harley and Owen Kruschwitz led the Manchester golf team to a win in a three-way Three Rivers Conference match Thursday at Sycamore Golf Club. The Squires posterd a score of 161 to Whitko’s 191 and Tippecanoe Valley’s 211.

Harley shot a one-under par 34 for medalist honors, while Owen was at 38, tying for second with Valley’s Cade Brouyette.

Other scores for Manchester were Mathias McLaughlin with a 40, Logan Parrett at 49 and Konrad Borgmann at 50.

The Wildcats were paced by Cade Bechtold at 41, followed by Kylar Bryant at 49, Dale Reiff at 49, Jonathan Strayer at 58 and Storm Baldridge at 68.

Mason Purvis posted a 52 for the Vikings. Other scores were Bryce Madeford at 57, Johnny Gonzalez at 64 and Billy Gillman at 65.

Whitko will play at Saturday’s Peru Invitational. Manchester will tee it up at Warsaw’s Bob Turner Classic at Tippecanoe Country Club on Monday. Valley will join Bremen for a three-way match at Triton Thursday.



Squires Fall To Oak Hill

CONVERSE – Oak Hill took full advantage of eight Manchester errors to get a 13-1, six-inning win over the Squires in a non-conference softball game Thursday.

Emma Evans had two of the Squires’ five hits in the game, including a triple.

Manchester closes its regular season Saturday morning, hosting Manchester.



Two Girls Tennis Sectionals Postponed

A pair of girls tennis sectional semifinals were postponed until today after a line of strong thunderstorms forced the issue.

Manchester will open play in the semifinals of the Peru Sectional at 5:15, with the championship match moved to 9 a.m. Saturday.

Likewise with Triton at the Bremen Sectional, with the semifinals begining at 4:30 p.m. The time and date of the championship match was not clear as of press time.



Boys Track Sectional Delayed By Lightning

GOSHEN –  A late evening storm caused a lightning delay that prevented the IHSAA Boys Track Sectional at Goshen from finishing before the Times-Union deadline.

The Times-Union will have a complete story on both the Goshen and Plymouth Sectionals in Saturday’s edition.
