Warriors Score 10 Over Final Three Frames, Beat Concord
DUNLAP – Wawasee scored four runs in the fifth inning, and three more in the sixth and seventh innings on its way to a 10-3 Northern Lakes Conference baseball win over host Concord Wednesday.
Levi Brown and Grant Brooks each had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run for the Warriors. Kam Salazar and Parker Young both singled and scored once in the winning effort.
Carter Woody got the win, spreading out 10 Concord hits over six innings, striking out six and walking one. Jacob Krugman pitched the seventh inning and gave up one hit in a non-save situation.
The Warriors close their regular season Saturday, hosting Lakeland in a preview of a possible sectional matchup.
Tigers Score Often In Win
ELKHART – Warsaw scored in every inning from the second to the fifth frame, going on to a 7-4 Northern Lakes Conference baseball win at Elkhart Memorial Wednesday.
Matt Shoemaker had the only extra-base hit, a triple, for the Tigers, and he scored two runs. Ian Glogovsky had three hits, scored once and drove in a run. Liam Patton and Jacob Hutcherson had two hits each for Warsaw.
The Tigers close the regular season Saturday by hosting a four-team tournament. Warsaw will play DeKalb in its first game.
Valley Eases Past Wildcats
SOUTH WHITLEY – Visiting Tippecanoe Valley scored four runs in each of the first two innings en route to an 11-2 win at Whitko in Three Rivers Conference baseball Wednesday.
Tanner Trippiedi was the winning pitcher, allowing seven hits, two runs and three walks while striking out four in seven innings of work.
The Valley offense was led by Payton Mills going 3-for-4 at the plate and driving in four runs. Wes Melanson and Layne Prater had two hits each, and Tucker Shull hit his second home run of the season.
Whitko outhit the Vikings 11-10 but couldn’t bunch them together. Evan Wilson had three hits and Aiden Hoffman two for the home team.
The Wildcats wrap up their regular season with a pair of trips to LaGrange County, taking on Lakeland on Friday and Prairie Heights on Saturday.
The Vikings wrap their regular season Saturday in a tournament at Twin Lakes.
Squire Rally Falls Short
NORTH MANCHESTER – After trailing 7-0 after 2-1/2 innings, Manchester scored six unanswered runs, but fell short in an 8-6 Three Rivers Conference loss to visiting Rochester Wednesday night.
Kindra Stetzel had three hits, drove in three runs and scored once for Manchester. Emma West and Torina Runkel both singled twice and scored twice. Mackenzie Day had two hits and scored once, and Avery Howard singled and drove in two.
Manchester (7-12) travels to Oak Hill, site of a 2A sectional that begins Monday, for a game today.
Zebras Use Three Deuces To Outlast Squires
NORTH MANCHESTER – Visiting Rochester scored a pair of runs in each of the last three innings, and then held off a late rally to get a 7-6, eight-inning win over Manchester in Three Rivers Conference baseball Wednesday.
The Zebras took a 5-4 lead in the top of the seventh, and Manchester pushed across a run in the bottom of the inning to force extras.
Grant Strobel and Thane Creager had three hits each for the Squires, with Kam Lester, Mason?Meyer, Korbin Hensley and Kyle Shepherd getting two hits each as part of Manchester’s 16-hit attack.
Manchester will close out its regular season Saturday with a doubleheader with visiting Central Noble Saturday.
Triton Game Canceled
BOURBON – Because Bremen needs to make up a rained-out conference game, the Triton softball game with the Lions scheduled for today has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.
Triton will now wrap up its regular season Friday with a non-conference home game against NorthWood.
