Vikings’ Brouyette Earns Medalist Honors In Conference Tourney

Tippecanoe Valley’s Cade Brouyette was the medalist, coming up with eight birdies on his way to a  73 at Saturday’s Three Rivers Conference boys golf tournament at Rozella Ford.

Manchester was fourth in the team standings at 354. Harley Kruschwitz paced the Squires with a 77, followed by his brother, Owen Kruschwitz, at 81. Klayton Hendrix had a 93, Mathias McLaughlin was at 103 and Konrad Borgmann at 104.

The Vikings finished sixth in the team standings. Peru was first with a team score of 324, with Maconaquah and Rochester tying for second at 344.

The rest of the scores for Valley were Mason Purvis, 101; Billy Gillman, 110; Bryce Madeford, 113; and Johnny Gonsalez, 134.

Whitko finished fifth with a team score of 365. Scores for Whitko were Kylar Bryant, 87; Cade Bechtold, 88; Dale Reiff, 94; Johnathan Strayer, 96; and Storm Baldridge, 129.

Manchester will play Tuesday at North Miami in a TRC dual match. The Squires, Valley and Whitko will play a three-way match Thursday at Sycamore Golf Club in North Manchester.



Triton 3rd, Warsaw 4th At Culver Academies Invite

PLYMOUTH – Triton’s boys golf team finished third and Warsaw took fourth place at the Culver Academies Invitational Saturday at Pretty Lake Golf Club in Plymouth. Wawasee finished 11th in the tournament, won by Plymouth by one shot over Culver Academies.

Warsaw’s Cal Hoskins shot a 74 and Zach LaLonde posted a 76, good for second and a tied for third place, respectively, in the individual competition. Triton’s Cole McKinney was in a four-way tie for fifth at 77. Trojans Beau Hepler and Keegan Westafer each posted 81s, putting them in a group of five players tied for 13th.

Harrison’s Nic Hofman was the medalist with a 73.

 The remaining Tiger scores were Seth Hildebrand, 84; Tucker Carlisle, 87; and Chase Byron at 97.

Triton’s Chase Butler had an 83, putting him in the top 25. John Gardner shot an 89 for the Trojans.

Wawasee was led by Zach Leedy’s 87, followed by Evan Dippon at 90, Dillon Drake at 94, Jared Krugman at 96 and Brad Blair at 107.

Warsaw and Wawasee play in a three-way Northern Lakes Confer-ence match at Goshen Tuesday. Triton is off until Saturday’s Hoosier North Athletic Conference tournament, hosted by Culver Community.



Wawasee Scores Early, Often In Win At West Noble

LIGONIER – Wawasee’s baseball team scored one run in each of the first four innings, then a pair of runs in the fifth and sixth frames on its way to an 8-6 win at West Noble in a non-conference game Saturday.

Carter Woody had a double among his three hits, scoring once and driving in a run. Kam Salazar also had a double, Gabe Moore scored twice, and Tony Garcia had a pair of singles. The Warriors were on the receiving end of eight walks as well.

Wawasee will host Goshen in Northern Lakes Conference play today.



Warsaw Splits, Triton Drops Pair In Tiger Tourney

Warsaw beat Triton in the semifinals of the Tiger Softball Tournament Saturday before falling to Homestead, while the Trojans dropped the third-place game to Fort Wayne Concordia.

In Warsaw’s 12-7 semifinal win over Triton, Madison Lane and Katie Anderson had RBIs in a six-run Tiger first inning. Carmen Albertson had a double and walked four times, scoring four runs for Warsaw.

Triton got off to a good start, scoring three runs in its half of the first. Erin Ogle had two of the Trojans’ four hits. The Tigers also had just four hits, but benefited from 11 walks.

Ogle also had three hits in the consolation game, a 10-0 loss for the Trojans.

Homestead won the title game 6-1. Albertson had a hit and scored the lone Warsaw run.

Next up for the Tigers is a Northern Lakes Conference game with visiting Concord today. Triton will host Winamac in a Hoosier North Athletic Conference game Tuesday.



Tigers Split At Carroll

HUNTERTOWN – Warsaw used a nine-run fourth inning to beat host Carroll 10-2 in the opening game of a baseball doubleheader Saturday. The Tigers fell 4-2 in the afternoon game.

In the opener, Liam Patton went 4-for-5 with a homer and two runs driven in. Matthew Shoemaker had a pair of hits and an RBI, and Nico Luna drove in a pair of runs for the Tigers.

Game two saw Patton and Noah Burgh get two hits each, and Jacob Hutcherson tossed three innings of perfect baseball in relief.

Warsaw will play a Northern Lakes Conference game at Concord today.



Valley SB Drops A Pair

ALBION – Tippecanoe Valley dropped a pair of non-conference softball games Saturday, falling 9-4 to host Central Noble and 9-3 to Elkhart Memorial.

Ally Bettern had a two-run triple in the Central Noble game and an RBI double in the Memorial game.

Now 5-14, the Vikings visit North Miami today for a Three Rivers Conference game.
