Tippecanoe Valley Rolls To TRC?Girls Tennis Win
WABASH – Seniors Tiphanie Hodge and Makenna Bradley, Tippecanoe Valley's No. 1 doubles team, won for the 14th time this season, while GiGi Engstrand and Hannah Parson, added key singles wins, to propel the Vikings to a 4-1 Three Rivers Conference win at Southwood Friday.
Hodge and Bradley dominated Ariel Benner and Shila Judy 6-1, 6-0. The pair put their opponents away in quick fashion and remained undefeated in conference play at 7-0. Engstrand lost just one of 13 games, and Parson won all 12 games she played.
Valley picked up another point when Southwood forfeited the No. 2 doubles match. The walkover win for Kaitlin Neese and Haley Baker ran their record to 10-5 for the season.
The Vikings (8-7, 3-4 TRC) will host Northfield Monday for Senior Night.
Trojans Win 2 HNAC?Titles
KNOX – Triton’s Ivy Powell at No. 3 singles, and the Trojans’ No. 1 doubles team of Lexis Hostrawser and Emma Hepler won Hoosier North Athletic Conference girls tennis championships Friday at Knox High School.
Powell won 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 over Knox’s Emma Binkley for the title, and Hostrawser and Hepler came back from a set down to win 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 over North Judson’s Alex Trout and Miranda Anderson.
Triton’s Haley Hooley and Madison Davis finished third after their 10-2 win at No. 2 doubles of LaVille’s Mackenzie Stephenson and Grace Carlisle.
Hostrawser, Hepler and Powell were named to the all-conference team.
Warrior Softball Rolls
PLYMOUTH – Wawasee scored in five of the six innings played, rolling to a 13-0 Northern Lakes Conference softball win at Plymouth Friday.
Olivia Stuck had four hits for the Warriors, including a home run and a triple, scoring three runs and driving in two. Graceanne Kerlin had three hits, including a double, scored twice and had four RBI’s. Faith Swihart had three hits and scored twice for Wawasee.
Bethany Flannery pitched all six innings for the Warriors, allowing four singles while walking none and stricking out two.
Wawasee will host its annual tournament today.
Wildcats Fall To Eagles
SOUTH WHITLEY – Columbia City’s baseball team scored nine runs in the second inning and went on to a 16-6, five-inning win over host Whitko in a non-conference baseball game Friday.
Mason Lehmen, Colten King and Ryan Brown had two hits each for Whitko.
The Wildcats will host Maconaquah for a Three Rivers Conference game Monday.
