Tigers Earn Sweep In Northern Lakes Conference Golf

ELKHART – Warsaw Tigers boys varsity golf team scored a solid 160 at Bent Oak Golf Club in Elkhart to get wins over Concord (177) and Northridge (183) in Northern Lakes Conference play Wednesday.

Warsaw’s Chase Byron was medalist with a 37 to lead the Tigers. He was followed by Cal Hoskins 39, Tucker Carlile 41 and Zach LaLonde’s 43. Seth Hildebrand completed the varsity scoring with a 46.

The Tiger junior varsity also secured a double win with a team score of 178, besting Northridge 199 and Concord 202. The JV was led by Ben Brander and Jack Yeager shooting 44 followed closely by Lewis Turley and Will Hall firing a pair of 45s. Mason Whitaker completed the team with a 49, while Jeremy Ryman and Bryce Welk also competed.

The Tigers are 3-0 in the conference, with conference action continuing Tuesday against Wawasee and host Goshen at Maple Crest Country Club.



Warriors Split NLC?Match

SYRACUSE – Wawasee’s boys golf team shot a 170 for nine holes at South Shore Golf Club, good enough for a split of its Northern Lakes Conference match Thursday. Plymouth picked up a pair of wins with a 161, and NorthWood took two losses with its 172.

Evan Dippon led the Warriors with a 40, followed by Dillon Drake at 41, Zach Leedy at 43, Victory Tayagua’s 46 and Caden Welty at 47.

NorthWood’s Sean Hogan posted a 36 for medalist honors.

Wawasee (11-3, 3-1 NLC) will play in the Culver Academies Invitational Saturday.



Viking Softball Rolls

MARION – Tippecanoe Valley’s softball team scored 12 runs between the third and fifth innings to polish off a 13-2, five-inning win at Marion in a non-conference game Wednesday.

Amy Baca had four hits in as many at-bats, scored four times and drove in a pair of runs for the Vikings. Brayden Baney had a double, a singled, a run scored and twoi

RBI’s and Kirsten Prater and Kirstyn Yoder both had doubles in the game. Mary Kirchenstien pitched five innings, allowed two earned runs and struck out seven.

Valley (4-12) will host Wabash in a Three Rivers Conference game today.



Comets Blast Trojans

FULTON – A night after being no-hit in six innings, Triton softball had three singles in a 19-0 five-inning Hoosier North Athletic Conference loss at Caston Thursday.

Caston had a dozen runs in the home half of the third inning to expand its lead to 18-0 at the time.

The Trojans will play in at tournament hosted by Warsaw Saturday.



Wildcats Shut Out By Peru

SOUTH WHITLEY – Visiting Peru won all five varsity girls tennis matches to take a Three Rivers Conference victory over Whitko Thursday.

The Wildcats will host Wawasee for a non-conference match Monday.
