Squires Make Monster Comback; Beat Southwood
WABASH – Southwood led 7-0 after two innings of Tuesday’s softball game with visiting Manchester. The Squires responded with 11 runs in innings three through six, and came away with an 11-7 Three Rivers Conference win.
Lydia Greer tripled, doubled twice, singled, scored three times and drove in a pair of runs. Makenzie Day and Andrea Kahn had three hits and scored a run each. Day doubled twice and drove in a pair of runs. Emma West doubled twice and scored twice and Orina Runkel had a pair of singles in the Manchester attack.
Emma Evans picked up the win in relief, tossing 5-1/3 innings of one-run softball, walking none and striking out two.
The Squires will host Maconaquah today.
Tiger Golf Wins NLC?Match
Warsaw’s boys golf team opened Northern Lakes Conference play Tuesday with a 159-178 win over visiting NorthWood.
The medalist honors for low score was shared by Warsaw’s Zach LaLonde and Seth Hildebrand with a pair of 39’s on the back nine at Rozella Ford Golf Course. They were closely followed by a 40 from Tucker Carlile and a 41 by Cal Hoskins, with Chase Byron rounding out the Varsity scores with a 45.
The Tiger junior varsity team shot a 183 to take the win over Northwood’s team score of 207. The JV team was led by Jack Yeager’s 43 and closely followed by a 44 from Ben Brander. Other scores from the JV team were Will Hall’s 47, Mason Whitaker’s 49 and Lewis Turley’s 50.
The Tigers continue their conference matches next at Bent Oak Golf Club in Elkhart, taking on Concord and Northridge Thursday.
Wabash Edges Vikings
AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley and visiting Wabash faced off for the third time in 16 days Tuesday evening, with Wabash coming out with a 3-2 Three Rivers Conference girls tennis win.
Valley’s No. 1 doubles team of Tiphanie Hodge and Makenna Bradley ran their season record to 12-1 with a 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 6-2 win over Halle Miller and Cammie Kugler. The Vikings got a straight-set win from GiGi Engstrand at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-2 over Isabel France.
In junior varsity play, Kennedie Brooks and Andie Schwenger won for the third time this season as a doubles team.
Valley (6-7) hosts Whitko for a TRC match today.
Lions Blank Trojans
BOURBON – None of visiting Bremen’s girls tennis players lost more than three games in a 5-0 non-conference win over Triton Tuesday.
Triton (4-7) begins play in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference touranment today at Knox.
Bluejays P Tosses Perfect Game Against Triton
BOURBON – North Judson sophomore pitcher Delaney Kaminski tossed a six-inning perfect game in the Bluejays’ 10-0 Hoosier North Athletic conference softball win at Triton Tuesday.
Kaminski faced the minimum 18 batters, striking out 12.
Triton (3-12, 0-5 HNAC) travels to Fulton to take on Caston for a conference game Thursday.
