Warsaw’s Chookie Tosses No-Hitter; Tigers Beat Plymouth
Warsaw senior Courtney Chookie tossed a no-hitter, and the rest of the team erupted for nine runs in the third inning, allowing the Tigers to roll to an 11-0, five-inning victory over visiting Plymouth in Northern Lakes Conference softball Monday.
Chookie struck out seven Pilgrim batters in the game, and added a second-inning home run to centerfield. Hudson Bollinger and Katie Anderson had two hits and a run batted in each.
The Tigers will travel to Nappanee to take on NorthWood Wednesday.
Cavaliers Win Conference Slugfest Over Trojans
BOURBON – Triton scored in every inning, and plated nine runs over the last two innings, but gave up a pair of big innings to visiting Culver Community in the Cavaliers’ 19-15 win in Hoosier North Athletic Conference softball Monday.
Jaelyn Bules tripled, walked twice, scored a run and drove in two for the Trojans. Madeline Doll had three hits, Lauren Snyder had a pair of singles, Erin Ogle singled twice and Sky sickmiller scored twice for Triton.
Triton hosts North Judson in a HNAC contest today.
Warriors Wins Twice
ELKHART – Wawasee picked up a pair of Northern Lakes Conference boys golf wins Monday, shooting 168 to Concord’s 172 and host Elkhart Memorial’s 176.
Zach Leedy amd Tyler Bosstick shared medalist honors for the Warriors, each carding a 41. Evan Dippon and Victor Tayagua each shot a 43 and Dillon Drake had a 46.
Wawasee (10-2 overall, 2-0 NLC) will host Plymouth and NorthWood in NLC?play at South Shore Golf Club Thursday.

WABASH – Manchester’s softball team was held to five hits in its 10-0, five-inning loss at Northfield in Three Rivers Conference play Monday.
Northfield scored all 10 of its runs in the fifth inning to invoke the mercy rule.
Freshman Kindra Stetzel and sophomore Emma Garriott had a double each in the game.
Now 5-10 overall and 2-3 in the TRC, Manchester will play a conference game at Southwood today.
Whitko Boys Golf Bests Tippecanoe Valley
AKRON- Whitko Boys Golf prevailed over Tippecanoe Valley Monday by a final score of 188-213. Despite the loss, the Vikings’ Cade Brouyette led the field with 43.
Three Wildcats posted scores under 50, with Kylar Bryant’s 44 leading the team. Cade Bechtold turned in a 45 and Johnathan Strayer posted a 47. Dale Rieff and Storm Baldridge rounded out the Whitko lineup.
Aside from Brouette’s round, Tippecanoe Valley struggled. Mason Purvis finished second on the team with a 53, and Bryce Madeford added 57. Billy Gillman and Gohnny Gonzalez also shot for the Vikings.
Tippecanoe Valley will next compete Saturday at the Three Rivers Conference Tournament at Rozella Golf Course in Warsaw. Whitko will look to continue their momentum at Honeywell Golf Club against Wabash Thursday.
Wawasee Softball Wins Big At Northwood
NAPPANEE – Wawasee softball rode an aggressive offense to a 13-3 victory over Northwood. The Warriors’ 18 hits doubled the Panthers’ nine.
Kiaundara Olson earned the win for Wawasee, allowing three runs on nine hits. Abigayle Smith finished 4 for 4 with six RBIs, thanks largely to her two home runs. Faith Swihart and Bethany Flannery also posted four hits on the afternoon. Kathryn Flannery finished with three runs as a courtesy runner.
Gracie Clark took the loss for Northwood. She allowed eight runs on eleven hits before being replaced by Madison Miller in the third. Clark and Miller combined for eight strikeouts. Kylie Thornton and Lili Lomeli each posted an RBI for the panthers.
Wawasee (11-8) will host Northridge Wednesday on senior night. Northwood (7-12) will compete with Goshen at home today.
Triton Girls Tennis Earns Win Against LaVille
LAKEVILLE- Triton Girls Tennis knocked off LaVille 4-1. The Trojans also won the JV matchup.
The Trojans won two of three singles matches. Tirton’s Molly McFarland beat Charlet Kapke 6-1, 6-4. Laville’s Taylor Barrett evened the slate with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 win over Maddie Ritchison. Ivy Powell beat Allison Radacz in the deciding game 6-1, 6-1. Triton also won both doubles matches. The team of Emma Hepler and Lexia Hostrawser beat Bre Daniels and Ally Maenhout 6-2, 6-2, while Haley Hooley and Madison Davis beat Mackenzie Stephenson and Grace?Carlisle by PR Default.
Laville next plays today at Knox. Triton will take on Bremen today.
Lilly Hubert and Sadie Barber each won their JV matchups by scores of 8-1 and 8-2.
Northwood Baseball Outlasts Wawasee 1-0
NAPPANEE – Northwood’s strong pitching kept Wawasee at bay in a defensive showdown Monday night. The teams combined for only eight hits in seven full innings.
After holding strong all night, Jacob Krugman walked four hitters in the bottom of the seventh. After posting his fifth strikeout of the night, Krugman hit the next batter with the bases loaded to end the game at 1-0.
Wawasee struggled to get going on offense. Tony Garcia, Levi Brown, and Logan Adkins recorded the Warriors’ only three hits of the game. Three other batters reached on errors.
The Warriors (10-7) will look to regain their composure before taking the road against Northridge Wednesday.
Tigers Pull Ahead Late, Beat Plymouth 11-5
WARSAW – Noah Burgh’s pitching anchored Warsaw through seven innings as they upended Plymouth 11-5 Monday night. The game was tied at five apiece entering the sixth.
Burgh’s pitching held Plymouth to six hits, with no runs coming after the third inning. Burgh also posted four strikeouts in the win.
Burgh was assisted by a strong Warsaw attack. Liam Patton led the way for the Tigers, as he finished with three RBIs and hit the game-tying home run in the fifth. Ian Glogovsky also hit a homer on the afternoon, finishing 3 for 3 at the plate.
Jacob Deacon took the loss for Plymouth, allowing five runs in the sixth inning off two runs and four walks. Cole Filson got the start and played five innings, allowing two home runs but recording three strikeouts. The hitting of Matthew Dobuck and Ezra Winkle kept the Pilgrims in the game as they combined for three runs and four RBIs.
Warsaw (7-11) will look to heat up early when they host NorthWood Wednesday.
Tigers Edge RedHawks
GOSHEN – Warsaw got wins at two singles positions and a three-set win at No. 2 doubles to take a 3-2 win at Goshen in Northernn Lakes Conference girls tennis Monday.
Amy Herendeen and Maddie Ray won at No. 2 doubles 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 over the Redhawks’ Sage Christner and Sophie Kitson. Alyssa Zellers had a straight-set victory at No. 1 singles and Rachel Boyle did likewise at No. 3 singles.
Both of the matches Goshen won went three sets. Anna Podgonski won 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) over Warsaw’s Anastasia Kalikova in a No. 2 singles marathon. The Redhawks’ Brooke Grewe & Kathryn Detwiler won 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 over the Tigers’ Raegan Merchant and Rachel Yeager at No. 1 doubles.
Next up for Warsaw is the conference tournament, which begins Wednesday at Concord High School.
Big Inning Sends Whitko To Run-Rule TRC?Win
PERU – Whitko scored eight runs in the fifth and final inning, allowing the Wildcats to secure a 12-1, five-inning Three Rivers Conference softball win at Peru Monday.
Guinny Garr doubled and singled twice for the Wildcats. Emalee Duggins had a pair of singles, and Harley Bradley doubled and singled. Ellie Snep pitched all five innings, striking out six.
Whitko will play at North Miami today in Denver.
