The company, led by Sales and Project Manager Ryan Chudzynski, has a narrow focus.
“We specialize in asphalt reroofing, and there’s a lot more to it than just shingles. You have your underlayment, edge metals, ridge caps and vents,” Chudzynski said.
“So there’s a lot more to it than just slapping the shingles on it. We’ll make sure the whole roof is vented correctly, and that water is dispersed away from the house the right way.”
It’s not that do-it-yourselfers are incapable of correct installation, but if a roof isn’t done right, there’s a good chance of significant water damage to what is, for almost everybody, the single biggest financial investment a family will ever make.
“Our guys are experienced, and know what they’re doing. We’re not some run-of-the-mill guy operating out of a beat-up pickup truck. We have an office, so we’re easy to find after the job is complete. It’s important to people to have someone they know they can hold accountable in case they’re not happy for some reason. Our customers know exactly where to find us; 309 S. Detroit St. There’s ho hiding with us.”
Chudzynski said Roof King uses excellent materials that combine quality and value, including CertainTeed shingles in a variety of styles and colors.
“Give us a call and we’ll get an idea of what kind of projects you have. We’ll come out and concult with you, answer all your questions, and show you plenty of options.
“CertainTeed shingles are one of the most popular brands out there. They come with a lifetime warranty at no charge, so they way the warranty works is that for the first 10 years of that lifetime warranty the materials and labor are 100 percent covered. That comes with a 130 m.p.h. wind warranty and covers discoloration.
“After the 10-year period the labor is pro-rated, but the shingles are covered for life.”
And the materials that can’t be seen from the ground are just as important, and Roof King doesn’t skimp on them.
“One of the materials we use to ensure water stays out of places it’s not supposed to be is called ‘flashing,’” Chudzynski said. “It can be a little tricky, and you definitely need an experienced roofer to make sure the flashing is put in properly.”
Chudzynski said he takes a great deal of personal and professional pride in doing a detailed inspection of a roof before providing an estimate. In some cases, a job may need to get all-new wood underlayment to replace a rotted-out roof foundation.
“We’ll also do a proper inspection of the underlayment and the OSB (oriented strand board, very common roofing material), and make sure you don’t have any rotted boards.
“Basically, we’ll check to make sure your roof was installed properly, and if repairs are needed, we take care of what is needed to help you protect your investment.”
But, Chudzynski added, he isn’t interested in selling products and services just to pad a bank account. In Kosciusko County and the surrounding area, a businesses’ reputation is everything, and if someone tries to sell more than what a customer needs, the word gets around quickly.
And the price the business pays for a bad reputation is a steep one in this part of the country.
“Our owners have more than 25 years of roofing experience, and realized there was a need for roofing out there, and they decided to fill that need.”
Roof King’s office on South Detroit Street is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call 574-598-6088.
