After allegedly stealing from her employer for about a year, a Warsaw woman is facing a theft charge.

Jolene Marie Swihart, 36, of 521 Clinic Court, Warsaw, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 6:34 p.m. Friday for theft, a level 6 felony, with a $2,000 surety and $1,000 cash bond.

On Feb. 19, Warsaw Police Department officer Jordan Roberts was dispatched to the Dollar General in reference to a theft from an employee who was still at the business.

Upon arrival, Roberts met with the loss prevention manager, Robert Roper, who said that Swihart, an employee at the Dollar General, had been stealing money from the store for about a year. He said she did this by crediting her personal credit card from fraudulent returns, underpricing items she purchased and performing fraudulent returns for others.

Roper said he estimated that Swihart stole approximately $6,000 over the last year.

Swihart was taken to WPD for an interview. She admitted she has taken money from Dollar General but estimated it was closer to $2,000. She said she made false returns of items she never purchased and crediting the return funds to her personal credit card
