Brandie Elizabeth Swick, 32, of 4492 E. CR 600S, Warsaw, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 4:23 p.m. Thursday for theft with a bond of $2,000 surety and $1,000 cash.
Court documents filed March 13 list the charges against her as theft, a level 6 felony; and two counts of theft, Class A misdemeanors.
On March 10, Warsaw Police Department officer Zachery Smith was dispatched to the YMCA in regards to a theft that occurred. He spoke with a woman who stated that she placed some of her property in a locker and took a shower. Returning to her locker she found that her cellphone, phone case, gym bag and headphones were taken out of her locker. They were valued at over $750.
Smith then spoke with a YMCA employee who was already assisting two other women who also had items stolen out of their lockers. One woman had a watch – valued at over $600 – taken from her locker. The other woman said she had a coat valued at about $400 taken from her locker.
Smith reviewed surveillance video and saw two male subjects and one woman sign in at the YMCA check-in desk. Smith saw the woman enter into the women’s locker room carrying a small bag. She’s later seen exiting the locker room carrying several bags and wearing a coat that she was not wearing previously.
The YMCA employee identified the woman as Swick through the check-in sheet that Swick had signed.
Smith contacted Swick by phone and she agreed to be interviewed at the WPD.
During the interview, Swick admitted that she took the property belonging to the three women who reported it missing. The cellphone was unable to be found, but the remainder of the items were returned to the victims, according to court documents.
