Two women are facing burglary charges after one allegedly instructed the other to steal an AK-47 from her father’s home.

Jessica Rae Manns, 23, of 8280 E. U.S. 30, #45, Pierceton, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 3:35 p.m. Thursday on a charge of burglary, a level 6 felony, with a bond of $5,750.

Hannah Lynn Rinehart Davis, 20, of 1121 E. Fort Wayne St., Warsaw, was booked into the KCJ at 1:30 a.m. Friday on a preliminary charge of burglary with a bond set at $15,250. Her court documents were not available as of this morning.

According to court documents on Manns filed Friday, at about 2:47 p.m. Thursday, Warsaw Police Department officer Jacob Metzger responded to a call for service regarding a suspicious person. A Warsaw Street Department employee informed Central Dispatch that a white woman wearing her hat backward had placed an AK-47-style rifle inside of a bush in an alley.

The employee said after the woman – later identified as Manns – saw the employee watching her, her demeanor changed and she placed the rifle in a bush and began to walk west in the alley.

Metzger found Manns walking in the area of East Clark and North Cook streets in Warsaw. Manns provided her name and date of birth to officers and said she had taken the firearm. Where she had taken the firearm from was redacted in court documents.

Manns said she had been in contact with Davis and Davis’ family owned the residence from where the gun was taken. Manns said she had taken the firearm under Davis’ direction and that she believed it was owned by Davis’ father, Robert Davis.

Officers found the AK-47 in the bushes next to the garage behind Robert Davis’ home.

Officers spoke with Robert, who said an AK-47 rifle, multiple AK-47 clips and a Smith & Wesson revolver were stolen from his residence.
