Larry Neher, 68, of Claypool, passed away at 10:05 a.m. March 11, 2019, in his residence.

He was born on Sept. 26, 1950, in Warsaw, to Ivan and Christine Stafford Neher. On July 17, 1977, in Leesburg, he was united in marriage to Fay McAfoose.

A lifetime Kosciusko County resident, he worked for Dalton Foundries as a maintenance technician with 50 years of service.

He belonged to the Claypool Lions Club and was a past president. He served on the Claypool Fire Department for 34 years, retiring in 2017, and held several ranks from firefighter to chief, and was assistant chief upon his retirement. He served with the Kosciusko County Fireman’s Association, where he was a long-time secretary and vice president. He had further served numerous terms on the Claypool Town Board.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict.

He is survived by his wife, Fay; children, Torie (and spouse Jason) Helton of Claypool and Jason (and spouse Mandy) Neher of Claypool; along with his sisters, Connie (and spouse Robert) Hite of Akron and Deb (and spouse Ben) Crump of Warsaw. He is futher survived by his grandchildren: Damion Clabaugh, Gregory Helton, Emily Neher and Alice Neher; and great-grandchildren, Brantley and Jaxson Clabaugh.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at First Freewill Baptist Church in Claypool.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 15, also at First Freewill Baptist Church, with Pastor Terry Bradford officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw.
