Donna said many plants can be harmful, even fatal, to pets if ingested. The top 10 toxic plants are amaryllis, aloe, azalea, begonia, carnations, chrysanthemum, daffodil, English ivy, Lillie's, poinsettia, tulips, dieffenbachia (dumb cane), autumn crocus, sago palm and hydrangea. With spring on the horizon, she suggested watching pets when they are around houseplants and any flowers in your hard.

She also shared how many foods we eat can be bad for pets: avocado, bones, chives, onions, garlic, chocolate, coffee, tea, pop and caffeine, grapes, raisins, macadamia nuts, milk, salt, raw meat, uncooked eggs, yeast dough, xylitol (sugar substitutes) and, for cats only, Tylenol.  Tylenol breaks down the blood cells in cats, causing anemia and death.
