An alleged thief from Michigan wanted by the Kosciusko County sheriff since 2018 was taken into custody Tuesday.

Andrew J. Futymoski, 29, Schoolcraft, Mich., was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 3:39 p.m. Tuesday on eight charges: burglary, a Level 5 felony; theft, a Class A misdemeanor; burglary, a Level 5 felony; theft, a Class A misdemeanor; burglary, a Level 5 felony; theft, a Level 6 felony; burglary, a Level 5 felony; and theft, a Class A misdemeanor.

No bond was set.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed in Kosciusko Superior Court I on Nov. 21, 2017, Futymoski admitted to police he cut the locks and entered storage units and stole items at Packrat Storage, Syracuse, on Oct. 6, 2017, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Futymoski was arrested Jan. 23, 2018, and booked into the jail with a bond set at $11,000.

On Feb. 14, 2018, Kosciusko County prosecutor Dan Hampton was notified by the Kalamazoo County, Mich., sheriff’s department that Futymoski is fugitive wanted on a warrant there for breaking and entering, larceny in a building and stolen property charges. Futymoski was extradited to Michigan on March 2, 2018.

On Aug. 30 Futymoski's attorney, Dana Leon, appeared in Superior Court I for the scheduled plea hearing, but Futymoski did not. Leon asked Cates for a continuance, which was denied, and a warrant was issued for Futymoski's arrest on Aug. 31.

Futymoski was picked up on that Aug. 31 warrant in Kosciusko County, according to the sheriff's department.

What the Michigan man's association is with the area is unknown.
