NORTH WEBSTER - Gene F. Ladd, 79, of North Webster, Ind., passed away at 6:42 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at the Visiting Nurse & Hospice House in Fort Wayne, Ind.

He was born on September 2, 1939 in Warsaw, Ind., to Paul E. and Mary Meloy Ladd.

He graduated from North Webster High School and was a United Stated Marine Corps veterans. He was a lifetime North Webster area resident and made his career as a self-employed contractor.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 253 in North Webster.

He is survived by two daughters, Dena (Brad) Chaney and Nancy (Heather) Ladd, both of North Webster; son, Jason Ladd of North Webster; grandson, Hugh Spencer Ladd; three step-granddaughters; sister, Sharon Zieske of Billings, Mont.; brother, Phil (Carol) Ladd of Kimmell; and longtime companion, Sara Mills of North Webster.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 20 at Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Judy officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 21 in the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery with military rites by the North Webster American Legion.
