By Staff Report-

Warsaw Community Schools will welcome students and staff back to the first day of school on Aug. 13.

In preparation for the start of school, each WCS building will host a time for parents to visit and tour the buildings and learn more about their child’s school.

Registration is important for student classroom placement, transportation schedules and to ensure a smooth start to academic learning, according to a news release from WCS. Transportation letters are scheduled to be mailed by Aug. 5. Late registration submissions put proper and efficient transportation routes in jeopardy. If you have not yet registered your student, visit https://warsawschools.powerschool.com/public.

For registration assistance, email [email protected] or contact the individual school of residence between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to receive assistance with parent login. Central office will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to help families as well with registration questions.

Elementary

All WCS elementary schools will host an open house from 4 to 5 p.m. Aug. 12. Students attending the event are able to drop off their school supplies, see their classrooms and meet elementary administrative staff and teachers.

Middle school and high school students will also have opportunities to visit their schools prior to the start of the school year. Edgewood Middle School will be open to families from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday. Edgewood will host a parent and student meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 21.

High School and

Warsaw Community High School and Warsaw Area Career Center invite parents and students to a welcome back open house from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 12. In addition, students are invited to visit, entering door #1, from anytime between 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. to walk their schedule, find their lockers and learn more about the layout of the building before the start of school.

In addition to these events, WCHS will hold freshmen orientation Aug. 6 in the Performing Arts Center. Doors 47 to 50 will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. In order to provide added flexibility for parents and students, there will be two different presentation time slots. Presentations will begin at 5:15 and 7:15 p.m. Meetings will last 45 minutes.

Parents only need to attend one of these time slots as the same information will be covered each time. These presentations allow parents to hear important information regarding the school year and meet and hear from key school personnel, including the freshman grade-level principal. Students may also pick up their iPads at this time. All incoming freshmen students and their parents are invited and encouraged to attend.

Other class-level meetings will take place during enrichment periods on Aug. 16, to provide further information for students in each grade level
