Chair Gallery Opens

The Friends of the Syracuse Public Library have brought together artists in the community to transform the old, oak library chairs into pieces of literary art.  The chairs are on display at the Syracuse Library from July 26 through Aug. 1.

Local artists have contributed their time and talents to turn the chairs into artwork. Bids for the Friends silent auction will be accepted until Aug. 1 at 6 p.m. when the winners will be announced.

The themes are Dr. Seuss by Susie Brandes, Hogwarts by Phil Rich Oest, Shel Silverstein by Phil Rich Oest, Alice in Wonderland by Debi Hayes, Where the Wild Things Are by Tammy Kratzer, and Tolkien’s Middle-Earth by Emily Austin. The subjects were chosen by the artists, with some of them choosing to pick visual ideas from their all-time favorite author.
