By Staff Report-

To promote deeper community impact, new to Kosciusko Leadership Academy this year are mid-year grants.

These $500 mini-grants enable cadets to get a head start on their whitepaper projects, and prove their project can be successful enough to win the Northerner Award in April.

This year, the KLA Board of Directors awarded grants to six projects:

• New Leash on Life: Helping the Animal Welfare League plan and execute an annual fundraising event to replenish operating funds.

• Enhancing Agaitas’ Impact on Kosciusko County: Assisting a nonprofit in raising funds to hire a summer intern and help promote their local sports camps for Kosciusko County youth.

• A Friend in Me: Helping Cardinal Services recruit volunteers to assist in meeting the needs of consumers they serve.

• Ice Rink Management Plan: Working with the city of Warsaw to develop an operations and management plan for a proposed ice rink, building off a previous KLA project.

• Finding a Bridge to Hope: Developing a marketing plan to assist a nonprofit organization that seeks to reduce the impact of drug addiction in the county.

• Access Kosciusko: Developing a web-based app that will guide consumers to handicapped-accessible establishments around the county.
