On Nov. 29, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy Jeff Clark responded to a burglary. Location of the burglary was redacted in court documents.

He talked with the victim who said he believed an former neighbor, Wardlow, was responsible for breaking into his garage. Clark determined the garage door had been pried and kicked open. He discovered that a welder, an air compressor and several power tools were missing. The victim provided KCSO Det. Chris Rager with a detailed list of the stolen items.

Rager found several of the stolen tools had been pawned by Wardlow and another man at a Goshen pawn shop. The victim identified the items as his.

Officers learned Wardlow had possibly been staying with the other man, who was cooperative with officers. The man told officers he had pawned some power tools that he thought belonged to Wardlow because the pawn shop policy was that you could only pawn two items per day. The man escorted officers to his garage and showed them several other tools that supposedly belonged to Wardlow.

The victim identified seven recovered items as his. Estimated value of the stolen power tools was about $1,000.
