Donald Eugene Kinney Jr. went to be with his heavenly father on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at 5:30 p.m.

He was born on Jan. 18, 1958, son of Donald Eugene and Frances “Pat” McGriff Kinney Sr. in Goshen. God blessed Don and Kristine Overmyer with a beautiful partnership when they married on March 16, 2013.

He is survived by his wife, Kristine Kinney of Warsaw; two children, Bethany (Thomas) Hall of North Manchester, and Candace (David) Fritzel of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren: Asher Hall, Zoey Hall, Grantham Hall, Josiah Fritzel, Ethan Fritzel, Mackenzie Fritzel and Aria Fritzel, all at home; his father, Donald Eugene Kinney Sr. of Milford; three siblings: Cindy (Doug) Scott of Nappanee; Kevin (Janet) Kinney of Leesburg; and Cathy (Mike) Hawkins of Milford; four stepchildren: Kristopher (Courtney) Hueber of Plymouth; Erin Ensz of Milford; Josh Hueber of Warsaw; and Daniel Hueber of Warsaw; along with seven step-grandchildren: Brock Hueber, Kellen Hueber, Delilah Kimes, Jackson Ensz, Holden Ensz, Caroline Ensz and Rowen Hueber. He was preceded in death by his mother; and a brother, Robert Kinney.

Don graduated from Wawasee High School in 1976 and retired from Monogram Comfort Foods. He was a devoted member of Pathway Church (Warsaw Wesleyan), coached baseball at Wawasee High School for many years, and enjoyed playing softball on the Warsaw Wesleyan church league team. Don enjoyed cooking, and his family enjoyed eating it even more. He was a very gifted carpenter, an avid Chicago Cubs and Notre Dame fan, and loved to travel. Above all, Don was a servant of Jesus Christ, and more than anything on this earth, he loved his grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held in Don’s honor on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, at 10 a.m. at Pathway Church, 2402 W. Old 30, Warsaw, IN 46580. Pastor Glenn Hall will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw.  

Family and friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at Pathway Church, and also one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
