Prep Roundup: Warsaw's Knight To Swim For State Title

In Friday’s state finals preliminaries at the IUPUI Natatorium, Knight finished fifth out of 32 competitors with a time of 56.84 seconds.
The top eight individuals or teams in each event will swim in the finals today, while those who finished ninth through 16th in Friday’s prelims will swim today in the consolation round.
Knight is the only local swimmer that will be in action today.
The Tigers competed in five events Friday night.
The 200 freestyle relay team of senior Alex Cook, juniors Nick Bazzoni and Knight, and sophomore Michael Ray finished 29th in a time of 1:30.13.
Cook finished was 29th in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.05 seconds, and 31st in the 100 freestyle in 49.26 seconds.
Warsaw’s 200 medley relay team of junior Zach LaLonde, sophomore Nathan Taylor, Knight and Cook was disqualified for an early takeoff.
Triton Trojans Fall To HNAC Rival Knox
KNOX – Triton’s varsity boys basketball team scored just 11 points in the middle two quarters Friday and finished the regular season with 46-40 loss at Hoosier North Athletic Conference rival Knox.
Triton led the Redskins 17-15 after one quarter of play, but then only scored five points in the second stanza and six in the third quarter.
Knox, which improved to 12-9 overall and 5-2 in the HNAC, led 31-22 at halftime and 40-28 heading into the final frame.
Jared Prater led the Redskins with 18 points, five rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals, while Gunner Wagner chipped in with 12 points, and Kole McIntire and Eian Coad tallied seven and five points, respectively.
The Trojans, now 8-14 overall and 3-4 in the HNAC, got 12 points and four rebounds from Ashton Oviedo, while Beau Hepler finished with 10 points and three boards, Keegan Westafer scored seven points, and Tyler Heckaman chipped in with six points and five boards.
Triton will host a Class 1A Sectional next week, and the Trojans will play Elkhart Christian at approximately 8 p.m. Wednesday.
